Tips to Prevent Becoming a Victim of Real Estate Fraud *NOTE* Deed & Mortgage Tax Changes
As of January 1, 2008, the additional state deed tax and mortgage registration tax (also know as the “environmental fee”) imposed by Ramsey County and Hennepin County pursuant to Minnesota Statutes §§ 383A.80 and 383B.80, respectively, will no longer be in effect. The additional state deed tax and mortgage registration tax (.0001 times the amount of net consideration or debt secured, respectively) will not need to be collected or paid for deeds or mortgages presented for recording in Hennepin and Ramsey counties after January 1, 2008. As of January 1, 2008, state deed tax will be calculated at $3.30 per $1000.00 of net consideration and mortgage registration tax will be calculated at $2.30 per $1000.00 of debt secured in all Minnesota counties. *NEW* County Recording and Contact information Available by clicking here.
