Title Claims, Bush Nielsen
Bush is a nationally recognized authority on title insurance claims and will summarize the current title claim hot topics. Bush formerly served as in-house counsel to two title insurance underwriters and is now a practicing attorney representing title insurance underwriters in disputes involving title insurance coverage, escrows, conveyancing, boundaries, RESPA, loan fraud, public land records and more. Bush is publisher and author of Title & Escrow Claims Guide, the bible of claims administrators, and is the editor of The Title Insurance Law Newsletter, a monthly national report of new laws and cases affecting the land title industry. Not Just Another Economic Update – Professor Varadarajan Chari
What is the current state of the economy? How does the world economy affect the U.S.? Professor Varadarajan Chari will be speaking at the MLTA Spring Seminar and providing insight into this topic. Varadarajan has been a professor of economics at the University of Minnesota since 1994. Professor Chari has many accomplishments which include several academic and economic roles. He is currently the Paul W. Frenzel Land Grant Professor of Liberal Arts, Professor of Economics and Founding Director of the Heller-Hurwicz Institute at the University of Minnesota. He has served on the Board of Editors of many journals, including Econometrica, the Journal of Economic Literature and the Journal of Economic Perspectives. In 1998, he was elected fellow of the Econometric Society and was named Scholar of the College by the College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota in 2008.
During his MLTA Spring Seminar presentation, Professor Chari will touch on the world/USA economy, the Minnesota economy, and touch on the local real estate economy.
Social Networking, Norah Olson Bluvshtein
Who owns your Company’s Social Media Profiles, Contacts and Content? After hearing Norah Olson Bluvshtein speak at the MLTA Spring Seminar you will have the answer to this question and many more! Norah is an employment law attorney at Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. and represent businesses both in and out of the courtroom on employee issues from hiring, to firing, and everything in between. She writes, speaks, and consults on employee use (and misuse) of the Internet, social media, and technology.
During her MLTA Spring Seminar discussion, Norah will touch on such intriguing topics as who owns your Twitter account; Thumbdrives, e-mails and iPhones – how to protect your data when an employee leaves your Company; and while 68% of organizations currently engage in social media to reach external audiences how effective has it actually been.

MLTA News and Updates
The Minnesota Land Title Association has been hard at work with several new initiatives in place designed to better assist members and the larger title profession. President Robert Ibler and other association leaders will share information related to:
- a new website that MLTA will be launching in the spring
- a new initiative introduced by ALTA designed to better engage members in government advocacy efforts
- legislative issues including an update on the Sparks Bill (SF 278) and a review of MLTA's first Day at the Capitol held in February
- and more.
